My Birthday
I wanted to eat pizza at a park for dinner! We got pizza from Josies – one of my favorite pizza places around here. It was fun to watch Harry just play at the park while we munched.
Later we had fruit pizza, my choice instead of cake. Dave wasn’t sure he wanted to let me make my own birthday dessert, but he did. I think it looks pretty and it was really yummy. Oh, I love fruit. I’d been looking forward to it for a long time! Dave later made me a dessert for my birthday when he made me a birthday dinner.
The last part of my birthday was showing Harry his new bed! We had picked it up earlier that day, and Jordan helped David put it together while the girls chatted and played with the kids. It was fun to surprise Harry with his big boy bed. Funny thing was we didn’t realize he was getting sick, so at first he wasn’t sleeping through the night. He hardly ever, ever wakes up at night, so we just figured it was the transition! Then we realized he had a fever. Poor little guy! Now he is sleeping great in his new bed! He looks so little in it. I think he really likes it. Now here’s the question – all you mom’s out there – how can I get Harry to nap in his new bed? I’m finding this is a lot harder! My first step has been to try darkening curtains in the room – but that didn’t seem to work today. He never had a dark room in his crib. I’m totally fine with it just being a long transition for the naps – I just want it to eventually happen. So, I’d love ideas. I kind of just figure it will take persistence and time. As a side note, I love the bunk bed we chose. We got it from a place the custom makes all their beds, but they are really quite affordable. It is SUPER SUPER sturdy! Our goal is to make it last to grandkids :)
(PS for any worried parents out there, the ladder is stored on the top bunk!)
Harry knew just what to do in his new bed!
This is what happens when a sweet little boy doesn’t want to nap in his bed. We started watching a movie (I am watching more movies lately as I am just kind of getting big and tired! What can you do?), he fell asleep, and then just flopped over. He very, very rarely falls asleep anywhere but his carseat or crib (or bed) so you know how tired he was!
This was one of my birthday presents, hooray! We decided to try it out with Clara. It is a great stroller and I can’t wait to take walks with my two little cuties in it!

We did what Amanda did and
We did what Amanda did and it worked pretty well. When D stopped taking naps I gave him the option of watching a movie in my bed while I took a nap. The rule is: quiet and lying down or the movie goes off.
When we switched Brax to the
When we switched Brax to the new bed we had some trouble too. But I put up his toys so he did not have anything to play with then we put a child lock on the inside door knob so he can't get out of his room by him self, he knocks to get out of his room. Then we just kept laying him down in his bed and just let him fall asleep it ended up working well now we don't have any problems laying him down for his nap. He did sleep on the floor a lot at first but that was okay he slept. Happy Birthday!
That is just too cute!!!!

Happy Birthday! Sounds like
Happy Birthday! Sounds like it was a great day. As for the naps, I have absolutely NO idea how to get Harry to take a nap. JJ stopped taking naps months ago (right around when he got his new bed)--good luck!
