The Stockyards
Submitted by megan on Thu, 09/17/2009 - 15:16This is a fun place that Joseph and Maren took us to while we visited. It was a little like being in the old west. This is where the cattle business used to take place, but now I guess it is mostly online, so they turned it into a “tourist” spot. There are shops of all kinds, and it was especially fun to look in the shop with REALLY nice boots, clothing, saddles and such. There were some great cowboy boots for Harry for only $300. Ha! But ya, everything was just beautiful to look at! There is a venue for big concerts, the biggest honky-tonk (I thought it was just a type of music!), a longhorn parade, people on horses, re-enactments, a human maze, a mechanical bull and one of my favorite things: lots of great “people watching!” Harry got on a mini-horse ride and liked it for about 10 seconds and got scared. We think it’s because just moments earlier he had seen dad ride the mechanical bull and tumble off! Maybe not the best timing.
Harry is in this position quite often lately – he finds and hoards little sticks and rocks.

How to Demolish a House (House vs. Excavator)
Submitted by megan on Tue, 09/15/2009 - 15:33
EXCAVATOR WINS!!!!
This was a house a few blocks away from us…burned, nasty, abandoned. The mayor was there for the demolition and it was awesome to watch. Harry absolutely loved it! We even saw raccoons running out from the rubble. This was a while back – more toward the beginning of summer. Pretty cool!
Our Cute Wyatt
Submitted by megan on Sun, 09/13/2009 - 16:51Snapped these before we went to church this morning. The shirt is a size 6/12 month! Wyatt is just a little piece of heaven in our home. So sweet.
On the Road Again
Submitted by megan on Fri, 09/11/2009 - 11:08Harry put these on by himself and they weren’t upside-down! Big accomplishment!
We were so excited to try Memphis BBQ! We had decided on a place called Cozy Corner and it was great! It was in a strange area of town, but it was way good! Truth be told, it was WAY too spicy for me. They use pepper as their main source of heat. Everything was so tender and good – they specialize in BBQ cornish game hens! I was able to eat some of that meat that wasn’t touching the sauce. It was too hot for me but I know Wyatt appreciated me not eating it also :) If anyone goes here I would DEFINITELY recommend the bologna sandwich with cole slaw on it. They make their own bologna and it was soooo amazing. We ate it later on for dinner on our way down and it was definitely my favorite. Not spicy! So tender….oh it makes my mouth water. The bologna was about a 1/2 inch think. Awesome!
THE sandwich. Even if you don’t like bologna – try it!
Wyatt’s just hangin out like always!
The restaurant was so friendly and while we were there there were 4 generations of the owners. They were so nice and Harry made a fast friend with this little girl named Lila. That had so much fun getting their wiggles out! They liked giving each other hugs – it was so cute!
The Memphis Basketball arena.
Hello Arkansas!!
Sweet snuggles!
Hanging out at a rest stop. Lately Harry has been into gathering and hoarding little sticks and rocks! So funny.
We Came. We Saw. We Conquered!
Submitted by megan on Wed, 09/09/2009 - 15:05This game was amazing! It was probably the most fun I’ve had at a game…ever! Let me tell you – I walked in the stadium and I was in total awe. People – the screen is crazy big. The Dallas Morning News put it this way: “Imagine four city buses parked in a line. Now imagine another layer of buses stacked on top of them. Add five more layers and hang the 28-bus cluster over a mental football field.” AND it was super super clear and beautiful. It just made the game even better. When I needed to take Wyatt out, I could still see the game perfectly on the screen. Bonus! Harry loved the game, but did get a little bored in the middle. He got a soft pretzel and was pretty excited about it – and he ate the whole thing! That was a lot for him! Wyatt did great – slept a bit, was a little dazed by all the noise, got hungry, etc etc. The game was just so memorable. From the picture you may be able to tell that the BYU fans were the definite minority so it made winning all the better. A side note- the OU fans were great. Not one taunt after the game; just complements all around. “great game” was heard all around. Isn’t that so nice to hear when so many sports fans are crass? Thank you so much for the generosity of David’s parents. We’ll remember this game for a looooong time!

Can anyone pick out what is wrong in this picture? First one to get it gets a pat on the back. Maybe a prize, we’ll see ;)
Wyatt just wants to eat Grandma’s arm.
The boys got new BYU shirts from Grandma and Grandpa!! Isn’t Wyatt sooo sweet?
More posts to come about our complete trip. Look forward to: BBQ, Bulls, Trucks, and so much more!
